- Prepare and regularly update district-level livestock and fisheries data and disease profiles, and report to concerned authorities.
- Implement federal and provincial programs and projects related to livestock, poultry, and fisheries.
- Regulate the quality of veterinary drug stores, meat shops, slaughterhouses, slaughter slabs, milk collection/processing centers, and biological materials and animal feed.
- Provide training and capacity-building programs to agricultural technicians working at the local level, commercial farmers, entrepreneurs, and farm operators.
- Deliver technical services to implement livestock, poultry, and fisheries pocket programs.
- Promote and facilitate the commercialization, mechanization, and marketization of livestock, poultry, and fisheries production.
- Provide laboratory-based disease diagnosis services including pathology, parasitology, microbiology, biochemistry, as well as surgical services.
- Operate animal breed improvement programs and implement In-situ Conservation of Animal Genetic Resources for local breeds.
- Conduct animal and fish health check-ups and treatment, and operate mobile veterinary camps as needed.
- Prevent and manage zoonotic and epidemic diseases, including outbreak response.
- Run specialized programs to address animal reproduction-related issues.
- Implement livestock and poultry insurance schemes.
- Address emerging challenges within the working area through targeted interventions.
- Coordinate with financial institutions to ensure farmers' access to affordable credit.
- Assist in the proper management of livestock production inputs and materials.
- Conduct capacity enhancement programs for related technical staff.
